The Art of Advancing is something I've been thinking about lately, it is one of the more difficult choices you'll need to make every game. I've tried to narrow what makes a perfect advance into two ideas, the first being gathering intelligence, or in other words, knowing your allies and your enemy's position and strength. With this intelligence, you can move on to set your expectation of the possible results of the engagement, and with this mental image, you'll have a rough idea of what you can achieve and when to back down. This generally comes after many trials and errors throughout your gameplay sessions. With a keen eye on the details and knowing which the limits of every unit you have, you can achieve more successful advances by being prepared for any situation.
