The 9th-century temple is believed to be the moolasthanam or original abode of Lord Anantha Padmanabha, the deity of the famous Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram. Sree Chakrapani Temple, Kasaragod Sree Chakrapani Temple is situated about 5 kms north of Payyanur and 3 kms south of Trikaripur on the Thankayam-Elambachi road in Kasaragod district. Ancient lore suggests that the temple was built by the Sage Parasurama. The presiding deity here is Lord Vishnu. The annual seven-day festival of Sree Chakrapani Temple is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Meenam (mid-March – mid-April). The festival starts on the Chathayam asterism and ends on the Rohini asterism of Meenam. Iravil Sree Mahavishnu Temple, Kasaragod The Iravil Sree Mahavishnu Temple is located at Beloor in Kasaragod district. The presiding deity here is Lord Vishnu. The temple’s wooden ceilings are decorated with colorful floral motifs in mural paintings. Sree Mannampurathu Bhagavathy Temple, Nileshwaram Sree Mannampurathu Bhagavathy Temple at Nileshwaram in Kasaragod is dedicated to Goddess Chandeswary. It is believed that the goddess here has the power to reduce the Shani Dhosa (malefic Saturn); devotees from all places visit this temple for this special power. It is situated on the banks of the Madhuvahini River. Kodoth Bhagavathy Temple, Kanhangad This is a temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy, and is located in the village of Kodom in Kasaragod. Rich in architectural beauty, the major attractions of this temple are the wood paintings and the temple pond. The village of Kodom itself is located 24 kms from Kanhangad in Kasaragod, Kerala. Aravath Sree Subramanya Temple, Pallikkara A masterpiece of architecture, this traditional dwitala (two-storeyed) Kerala style temple is located in the village of Aravath in Kasaragod. The temple is dedicated to Lord Subramanya. Made of red-laterite stones, the Aravath Sree Subramanya temple is located about 3 kms from Bekal Fort in Kasaragod. Kuttamath Bhagavathy Temple, Cheruvathur Kuttamath Bhagavathy Temple, dedicated to Mother Goddess, is located on Cheruvathur- Kayyur Road at Cheruvathur in Kasaragod, Kerala. The temple is noted for the annual theyyam festival celebrated in the Malayalam month of Makaram from 13 - 16 (Second half of January).
