Basic Scone Recipe (How to make Scones)

Here is a very basic and easy recipe for tender, flakey scones. I finally found clotted cream at Whole Foods and I was all to excited to make scones. You can add dried fruit, chocolate chips or even fresh fruit bits for a sweet scone. I like to add my favorite shredded cheese or even bacon for a savory scone. INGREDIENTS 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour 2 tbls sugar 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt (I use sea salt) 5 tbls cold unsalted butter 1 large egg 3/4 cup whole milk (maybe a little less or more) **extra flour for work surface **be sure to pat gently in a disc **DO NOT KNEAD DOUGH **be sure to chill in freezer before baking **bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit How to make Scones Easy Scone Recipe Tender Soft Scones
