Oxalic acid is an effective treatment in beehives for varroa mites. There are several different methods of using oxalic acid for this treatment but, in this video, I am going to show you the dribble method. The dribble method is effective when there is little to no capped brood present in the hive. It is best used as a single treatment. Measurements: 20 hives: 35 grams oxalic acid 600 grams or 24 fl oz of hot water 600 grams or 3 cups of sugar 10 hives: 17.5 grams oxalic acid 300 grams or 12 fl oz hot water 300 grams or 1.5 cups of sugar 5 hives: 8.75 grams oxalic acid 150 grams or 6 fl oz hot water 150 grams or 3/4 cup of sugar Note: If you have less than 5 hives, I would recommend making the recipe for 5 hives and discarding the excess. It is very difficult to accurately measure in small quantities.
