Jim has had essential tremor since he was 16. After years of trying different therapies and medications, he came to Penn Medicine neurosurgeon Iahn Cajigas, MD, PhD, to discuss neurosurgical options. After deciding on Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), Jim underwent the procedure at Pennsylvania Hospital. DBS uses electrical stimulation in the brain to treat movement disorders including dystonia, Parkinson’s Disease, and essential tremor or other neurological conditions such as epilepsy.
