Let us listen to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba reveal what Jesus told the world when he was on the cross. This is from a discourse given by Bhagawan on Dec 25, 1998: There are three paths that Jesus spoke about. The first was, “I am the Messenger of God — I should be the messenger of God, I should propagate the message of God and I will pass on the message of God to everybody. In this aspect, I am the messenger of God.” The second was, “I am the Son of God — I am the son, God is my father.” What is God's property? Truth, peace, love and forbearance. One should experience all of them. One should work for peace, struggle for love and work for righteousness. One should practise and then share with everyone. Then only, it justifies calling oneself the ‘Son of God’. When there was total identity between the two, He (Jesus) said ultimately, “I and My Father are one.” At that point of understanding and experience, Jesus never had any difficulty. He was ready for anything. There on the cross He was smiling! “What is this suffering? It is for the body. The body is full of senses. It is bound to fall. The Indweller is immortal. In fact, the Indweller has neither birth nor death. That Indweller is Divine essentially. I am not the body. I am Divine! I protect My body. In fact, the body is a vesture.” That had been His understanding all through. So everyone should consider oneself as the messenger of God.
