Brisk business in the sale of horses and ponies at the traditional Pattern Fair in Muff. The annual Muff Fair has been taking place on the same date on the same land for generations and this year was no different. On 12 August each year, local people and visitors gather in County Cavan for the Patter Fair at Muff. Eating, drinking, dancing, singing and bidding. In an effort to promote the fair, the local community council decided to add a few activities and attractions to the events including sideshows and market stalls. The publicity drew in the crowds but the fair is still all about buying and selling bloodstock. An RTÉ News report broadcast on 17 August 1983. The reporter is Alasdair Jackson.
