The Music of Poppy Ensemble (Live at Berklee)

I had the amazing opportunity in my Fall 2022 semester at Berklee College of Music to assemble and student direct this ensemble under the leadership of David Marvuglio, of which played the music of Poppy. The idea behind it was to recreate some of Poppy's best songs from the ground up with a full band, referencing both her studio albums and live performances of these songs. I begun the process of organizing the group in March 2022 shortly after I saw Poppy live in Worcester, MA and spent that summer preparing many elements of the show, including obtaining a wireless in-ear monitoring system to run pre-recorded tracks and a click, and building the framework of the live session. This went through several iterations throughout the semester, as some lineup changes ensued and technical issues arose in rehearsal due to the nature of the Berklee rehearsal facilities not easily being "plug and play" for an ensemble of this nature. Despite these hurdles, everything eventually came together very nicely, and I'm proud to share the result! One last thing: the mix of this isn't exactly what I wished/pictured this being, namely because the rhythm guitar mic unfortunately captured mostly drums, and hardly any rhythm guitar, as did the vocal mic. Thankfully, I was able to make the vocal mic work, but as for the rhythm guitar, the only audible source comes from the GoPro audio I recorded of the show by chance on the day of. My guitar and the bass were recorded direct through effects processors, so they thankfully didn't have this issue! I made everything work as best as I could in the mix, and I hope that can be heard!
