Hi guys! This one took a while but I finally brought you another MHA medley about the Dark Deku arc (I think that’s how Horikoshi refers to him in the manga), “Hired Gun”. It was a fun one. I started doing it as the chapters were coming out, so the first half it's mostly made in Garageband with some small tweaks here and there. Again, I really don't think I should be calling these “medleys”, since for this one I only used two elements from Hayashi’s original score while the other 80% of the song is just me having fun with it and coming up with stuff. This song doesn’t follow the fight Deku and Nagant had to a T, more so it's in disorder until the last part. It really was a fun structure and I’ll break the main points down for you (if anyone really reads this). The intro is to represent their encounter, we hear small bits of “You say run”’s main melody and a weird synth progression that introduces Nagant. Then I sort of tried to make a theme for Nagant. At the moment I wanted it to sound a bit western, as if she was this lone ranger for some reason and it stuck with me. It is here where the song doesn’t quite follow the exact order of events and instead I wanted to explore Nagant’s character a bit. I tried to represent how her deeds would eventually swell up until she loses it with a staccato melody I improvised. After that we hear her fan-made theme again but extended, this time as in full villain mode. Then we go back to Deku and this new section of the song focuses on him, the vestiges and him using all of their quirks (except the 2nd user’s of course). We cut briefly to Nagant and hear part of her theme again, and we go back with Deku once more. I used the vestiges theme one more time but changed it a bit at the end for a fragment of “You say run” (specifically the version in “Katsuki and Izuku”). Then this is where we start following events as they happen in the manga. Deku catches her and the first half of this small section is Nagant’s theme but ends with a fragment of “You say run”, sort of symbolizing them reaching common ground for the first time From there I just improvised a cute melody with hints of “You say run” again. I put the flashback she had of herself as a kid with a cuter variation of her theme. And then… All For One makes a move! Since I used the “The Power of All For One” melody already in “Deku’s Rage”, I wanted to use that ominous choir of the song “All for one” when Nagant explodes. We hear for one last time Nagants theme while AFO’s keeps playing and then…that's it…. So yeah. I didn’t expect it to turn out this long but I like it, let me know what you think. Also I tried to pan this song, and I really liked the result compared to my previous ones, hopefully I’m doing it right. Sorry for the long wait, for this one I had to edit 60 screens in total (that's how i call each still image that appears on the video, since sometimes I would put panels of different pages together for one screen) which meant erasing speech bubbles and having to redraw most of them, and out of those 60 I had to color 18 myself and lets say that I might not be the best nor fastest at it. There were times where I wanted to quit but I really wanted to show you guys what I was taking into account when making this song, especially with how disorganized it is. I shot myself in the foot with this one, but I have come to a decision, probably for the next videos I will only use 2 or 3 screens max, since it really takes a lot of time, hopefully that way I’ll be able to upload songs more frequently. Anyway, this might be one of my favorite fights. I love seeing Deku using his brains, and how he shows off all the new quirks is just so cool. I really liked Nagant and found her very interesting, she might have made some stupid decisions in her life, but she was still cool. We were robbed from that Nagant Deku team up!
