Revisiting Cold Steel 1 and 2 - Spoilers for all games before Cold Steel 3! And we come full circle, back to one of the games that started it all for me. With Cold Steel 4 a couple of months away, I wanted to get a second perspective on this arc, especially the first half. It would give me the chance to clarify hazy plot points, and answer some pressing issues I had on my first playthroughs. I don't think anyone who has watched my videos will need to know, but I strongly suggest playing these games before Cold Steel 3 or Cold Steel 4. If anyone has qualms about playing Cold Steel for the first time or starting their Trails journey with Cold Steel 1, I have no doubt the first game is still a good entry point. Cold Steel 1 and 2 are fast becoming one of the most popular entry points for new fans of the series, providing the balance between visual appeal and solid JRPG experience. They also fulfil their roles as Trails games in the same light, giving notable links to the other arcs. As I’ve said before, Cold Steel 1 was my first foray in to the series, and it holds a special place in my heart for that reason. Cold Steel 2 was also an excellent experience, but I felt it was the weakest in the series thus far for a number of reasons. As a result, it became the one game I have wanted to replay through the most. Since I’ve now played all the other arcs in the fantastic Trails Series, I felt it was the perfect time to replay the latest story through Erebonia, giving myself a sort of refresher course on this part of the Trails narrative. Since I had the benefit of playing the Sky and Crossbell arcs back to back, I felt it was only fair to do the same with Cold Steel.
