Dog walks Dorset. Another one of my favourite walks in this area, along the famous sandbanks peninsular. From the car park at Sandbanks, Poole, along the beautiful beach backed by million pound houses towards the mouth of Poole Harbour. This section of the beach is dog friendly all year round but there are restrictions on some sections of the beach heading the opposite way towards Bournemouth. The Haven Hotel overlooks this busy harbour mouth and the Sandbanks ferry connects the peninsular with the more rural and remote Studland Beach (hopefully coming soon to Campingdogz). This carpark can be expensive and very busy on a sunny summer day and unfortunately I don't have any tips for this as all the surrounding roads now have parking meters, grrrr ! They used to be free parking. On the plus side there is no height restriction barrier so camper vans and motorhomes can be parked, although consider the width of you vehicle (the entrance can be seen in the video). Camper vans and motorhomes can also be parked around the harbour with meter payment, although overnight camping is not allowed. The nearest free parking can be found on the side roads around Lilliput or Canford Cliffs village where camper vans and motorhomes can be parked, still only a short walk form the beaches. My favourite dog friendly cafe in this area is Jazz Cafe, located next to the beach at the beginning of the sandbanks peninsular. Dogs are allowed outside on the terrace and inside next to the log fire in the winter. Food is good, although some can be a bit pricey. Live Jazz is often playing. The sandbanks cafe also allows dogs on the outside terrace but not inside, I've had to shelter under the eaves in the pouring rain in the past !
