German warship arrives in London as Tower Bridge opens 🇩🇪 🇬🇧

The German warship, FGS Braunschweig, passes under Tower Bridge on arrival into London to be alongside HMS Belfast - a World War 2 era cruiser. More information on the visit to be added. FGS Braunschweig (F260) was commissioned in 2008 and is the lead ship in its class of K130 corvettes with the German Navy. The vessel arrived in London on Friday morning, travelling up the River Thames and under the iconic Tower Bridge as it opens. The suspension/draw bridge was opened in 1894. The German warship moored alongside HMS Belfast, a Town-class light cruiser that served in World War 2. Belfast was commissioned in 1939 and served with the Royal Navy until 1963 before becoming a museum ship on the River Thames in London. A port authority vessel and two tugs escorted the visiting ship. A helicopter of the National Police Air Service also flew overhead while boats with the Metropolitan Police Marine Policing Unit were active in the area.
