We hope you all have a very blessed Advent and Christmas season! Here is our version of the classic Advent/Christmas Song, "Veni Veni Emmanuel." We hope you enjoy it:) A note on our interpretation: This song has a correlation to the O Antiphons found within the Divine Office of Vespers, between Dec 17 and 23. Included in this piece is one of these, “O Radix Jesse”. We chose to sing this in place of the corresponding Veni verse, to keep the traditional acrostic of ERO CRAS, “I will be (there) tomorrow”. We want to encourage with this piece the sentiments that now, more than ever, it is our Emmanuel who is here to help us and save us. We put our trust in Him and we look for the light of Christmas to give us comfort, joy, and most of all, hope! My brother arranged the piece. My family sang it. Please no bad language in the comments. We want this to be family friendly:) Latin Lyrics: VENI veni, Emmanuel captivum solve Israel, qui gemit in exsilio, privatus Dei Filio. R: Gaude! Gaude! R. Veni, veni O Oriens, solare nos adveniens, noctis depelle nebulas, dirasque mortis tenebras. R. Veni, veni, Rex Gentium, veni, Redemptor omnium, ut salvas tuos famulos peccati sibi conscios. R. English Translation: O COME, O come, Emmanuel, and ransom captive Israel, that morns in lonely exile here until the Son of God appear. R: Rejoice! Rejoice! O Israel, to thee shall come Emmanuel! O come, Thou Wisdom, from on high, and order all things far and nigh; to us the path of knowledge show, and teach us in her ways to go. R. O come, o come, Thou Lord of might, who to thy tribes on Sinai's height in ancient times did give the law, in cloud, and majesty, and awe. R. O Root of Jesse, standing as a sign among the peoples; before you kings will shut their mouths, to you the nations will make their prayer: Come and deliver us, and delay no longer. O come, Thou Key of David, come, and open wide our heav'nly home, make safe the way that leads on high, that we no more have cause to sigh. R. O come, Thou Dayspring from on high, and cheer us by thy drawing nigh; disperse the gloomy clouds of night and death's dark shadow put to flight. R. O come, Desire of the nations, bind in one the hearts of all mankind; bid every strife and quarrel cease and fill the world with heaven's peace. R.
