English Recipe: PICKLED BEETS 7 Beets (Red or Golden) 1 Onion, large 3g Cloves, whole 3g Black Pepper, whole 3g Mustard Seed, whole 3 Bay Leaves, whole PICKLING BRINE 250ml Water 320ml White Vinegar 45g Sugar 2 Tablespoons Salt Cut beets into thin slices. Cut onion into small wedges. Fill canning jars with slices and pieces of onion wedges. Leave about 2cm of empty space between the vegetables and the lid. Add the whole spices to the jar. Shake with jar covered, to distribute spices. In a pot, heat over high heat, water, vinegar, suagr, and salt, until the sugar and salt are disolved. Do not boil. Pour the brine into the jar, still leaving the 2cm of space. Close the jar and secure according to your canning method. Set the secire jar in boiling water for 15 minutes. Remove the jar, let cool. Then store in a cool, dry place for at least 6 weeks. Then open and enjoy. After opening, cover the jar and place in the refrigerator.
