This video features a playthrough of the "Survey the Uninhabited Floating City" alternate mission variant in Armored Core VI. It includes the pre-mission briefing and pre- and -post-mission hangar dialogue. This mission dumps a LOT of interesting lore on you all at once. Xylem was actually foreshadowed by text documents in the "Steal the Survey Data" mission, and Walter definitely picked up on that. Just who his "friend" is, if such a person exists, as well as why he and Carla know so much about the Institute, remains ambiguous. This is the alternate variant of the mission, which means that it only unlocks on your third playthrough, during the "True" ending storyline. The most notable difference is that ALLMIND is here in this version, which marks one of the biggest divergences from the normal storyline yet! What is she after? Why is she here? What is the Integration program really for, who is Kate Markson, and just what the hell is up with the Coral? Thumb Dolmayan shows up to stop you, which also raises questions. He seems to know much more than he should about the Coral, and Ayre discovers that he has experienced a mind-meld with a Coral being much like you did. Yet, it seems to have soured, as he rants against the "Coral Release", and against true symbiosis. He doesn't approve of you and Ayre, and ALLMIND comments that the RLF is guilty of exploiting the Coral as well. All this talk of symbiosis, of Coral Release, of crossing the threshold, and ALLMIND's seeming interest in the idea- well. It seems to all be building up to something magnificent.
