To ensure their safety especially in heavy rain and fog weathers, the authorities in Eshan County of Yuxi City in Yunnan have strengthened the traffic and power control, provided food supplies scientifically to the elephants, set up protection areas and warned the local residents not to get close. On Thursday, a total of 286 people, 164 muck trucks, 69 emergency vehicles and 20 drones were mobilized, 426 households with 1,393 people were evacuated, 700 kilograms of food and 1.2 kilograms of salt were provided to elephants. The herd of 14 elephants lingered in Tadian Township of Ershan County on Wednesday and Thursday. The strayed lone elephant which is 53.6 km away from the herd, stayed in Hongta District of Yuxi.
