Undiscovered Remote Fishing Village in Rio. Backpackers Dream. Discover one of Rio's most untouched beaches hidden in the historic town of Paraty, located about five hours from Rio by car. There are three pristine beaches all with delicious fresh fish, lodging, and native villagers. We hiked through the preserved Atlantic Forest to get to the first beach called Praia do Sono. The only travelers who know about this spot are local backpackers. Watch this video to find out how to get there, what to do and where to stay. How to get there: Regular public bus or Uber from Paraty to the village of Laranjeiras. It's about 30 minutes outside of Paraty. You will enter a condominium of luxury homes called Laranjeiras. From there, you can park your car at the trailhead or take a boat to the fishing village Praia do Sono. Upon arrival, take the trail to Sono Beach, which takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to walk. I hiked in Teva sandals. No hiking boots necessary. Observe bird species in the Atlantic Forest and delight in incredible panoramic views of the beach from the viewpoints found along the trail. When you arrive to the first beach Praia do Sono, you will see a waterfront shaded by native almond trees beside the houses and fishing boats of the locals. There are delicious restaurants with fresh fish. There is camping and lodging on this beach. You can stay the night or continue hiking. Places to stay: Google these places. Camping Dona Aurora - Praia do Sono Camping e Chalés Raiz do Sono The next trail to the deserted Antigos Beach. Admire breathtaking views of the entire region at the top of this steep, moderate-high level 40-minute trail. There are three beaches total. You can hike the entire way or take the boat. In our case, we hiked to the first beach and took a boat to the third beach called Praia de Ponta Negra. This is where we spent two days.
