It affects pain sensation, texture sensation, and taste sensation in patients with the syndrome (either 1, 2, or all 3). Many treatment modalities have been recommended but with little effectiveness. This is a real condition that affects a large number of patients, mostly peri and post menopausal women (though not restricted to this group).
