Rigging 2D Lego Facial Expressions in Maya (Tutorial)

Ever wonder how to get those 2d-animated facial expressions on a 3D object? Well, now’s your chance! In this tutorial, I explain how to use keyed expressions to drive UV coordinates to change both the eyes and the mouth expressions all in one neat material… then apply that to a Lego version of Ricky from the Trailer Park Boys! Neat, hey!? We’re using UDIMS, so you might want to catch up on the naming convention used, as well as the way the UV editor is laid out. In this video, I was able to restore the connection by refreshing the UDIM's in the 'diffuse' node of the face VRayMtl. Let me know if this helps, or especially if it doesn't... I will dig deeper into it and figure it out.
