Pandit Srimadajjada Adibhatla Narayana Das was a versatile genius. He was a poet, musician and the creator of the art form Harikatha (a performing art, which comprises narrating a story, composing poetry extempore, singing, dancing and acting). As a Vaggeyakara (poet-composer) he composed a raga-maalika comprising ninety Karnatic ragas. In fact he was next only to Thyagaraja in composing music in all the 72 melakarta ragas in other works. He has written Harikathas in Telugu, Atcha-Telugu (Telugu unmixed of Samskrit) and Samskrit. In this concert, entitled 'Adibhatla Narayana Dasa Keertana Gana Sudha', Sri Komanduri Seshadri, one of contemporary Karnatic music's great exponents presented select Keertanas from the Harikaths of Sri Adibhatla Narayana Das. Sri Seshadri commenced Part I with a Varnam he wrote and composed on the versatile genius, followed by a keertana from JAANAKI SAPATHAM. He continued with the keertana from JAANAKI SAPATHAM in Part II. JAANAKI SAPATHAM is unique not only for its literary brilliance but also because in it Pandit Narayana Das employed 35 vivadi / apoorva (rare) ragas. In the remaining parts, Part-3 to Part-8, Sri Seshadri presented keertana's from some of Pandit Narayana Das' other Harikathas like Yadhartha Ramayanam, Savitri Charitramu et al. Sri Seshadri concluded his concert with a Pallavi in Parts 7 & 8. Adibhatla Narayana Dasa Keertana Gana Sudha is in 8 parts. This is Part 1. [Division of these parts may not have been at appropriate endpoints because of limitations for posting on YouTube. Therefore you may find one keertana interrupted in the middle and begun in the next part.] For more on Pandit Narayana Das, see: "PANDIT SRIMADAJJADA ADIBHATLA NARAYANA DAS" @ http://panditand.blogspot.in/
