Karl Richter, Pierre Thibaud, 'Brandenburg Concerto #2' (J. S. Bach)

The German Karl Richter (1926-1981) was a genius ahead of his time. He was a conductor, choirmaster, virtuoso organist, harpsichordist and pianist. In 1954, he founded the Munich Bach Choir, and soon after, the Munich Bach Orchestra, which rapidly became established as a prominent international ensemble, noted for its interpretations of the works of J.S. Bach and other composers. Pierre Thibaud (1929-2004) was a French classical and popular trumpeter, considered one of the greatest of all time. He was also an internationally recognized professor of trumpet and cornet. In the 1960s and 1970s, he participated in virtually all of Karl Richter's recordings. They interpret Johann Sebastian Bach's 'Brandenburg Concerto #2 in F', BWV 1047. The 'Brandenburg Concertos' were a present to the Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt, Christian Ludwig, in 1721. The 'Brandenburg Concerto #2 in F' is one of the most challenging musical pieces for the trumpet ever written. Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) was a German composer, virtuoso organist and harpsichordist, music educator, conductor and choirmaster. He's considered one of the greatest composers of all time. This live recording is considered definitive. Movements: Allegro Andante - 5:30 Allegro Assai - 9:13 Recorded live in Munich, Germany, April, 1970.
