A gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life of Marie Tennis Bacle will take place at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane in Monroe on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. There will be a private family burial at a later date. Services are under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Carol Marie Tennis Bacle was born on October 28, 1964, and passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, due to complications from a lengthy childhood illness. Marie graduated from Neville High School and then from Hollins College in Roanoke, VA. She attended ULM Nursing School where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. She worked at LSU Hospital in New Orleans, LA, St. Francis Hospital and P&S Heart Cath Lab in Monroe, LA. Marie was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. She was a lover of all animals but especially dogs and cats, mostly ones that were sick that she nursed back to health. With her sweet demeanor and love of family and friends, she was a blessing to all who knew her. Her friends and family and animals were everything to her. Marie suffered with health issues. At the age of five, after contracting the mumps which damaged her pituitary gland, she developed Diabetes Insipidus which is an uncommon condition that involves the kidneys. Because of this illness, she was always quite frail and had to live on medication for the rest of her life. This illness ultimately led to her untimely death. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Carol Clark Tennis and Dr. Paul Richard Tennis. She is survived by her sister Margo Tennis Scott and Margo’s children; Caroline Clark Scott, Mary Holland (Holly) Scott, and Stewart McDonald Scott Jr. and his wife, Anne Marie Walters Scott. She is also survived by her brother Paul Clark Tennis and his children, Avery Ellis Tennis and Collens Griffin Tennis. In addition, she is survived by her loyal special friends who meant so much to her, including Kenny Bacle, Amy Lauve Yates, Nancy Bershen, and Julie Hannum just to name a few. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, Grace Episcopal Church, River Cities Humane Society for Cats or to the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter.
