This weekend lets talk about and really dig into the German Heckler & Koch HK33 military rifle and its semi-auto variants imported into the USA during the preban era. We will go into the development, military service, civilian use, and ultimate fate of this rifle; paying close attention to the HK 43 & HK 93. The HK33 was the medium-sized member in H&K's roller lock/delayed family; smaller than the 7.62 NATO G3, and larger than the 9mm MP5. It was designed for the .223 Rem round (later 5.56 NATO) and was primarily for export. In 1974, the first semi-auto version was imported into the USA as the HK43, but was quickly replaced by the HK93.
