They were absolutely amazing to see, unfortunately my camera did not see the same thing I did. While my nights were spent watching fireflies, my days were spent doing a few of my favorite things - mountain biking, trail running, and paddle boarding. On my way to Elkmont Campground I stopped at Vee Hollow bike trails to ride, and then explored the abandoned town of Elkmont after setting up camp. The whole next day was occupied with running trails through the mountains and along rivers, working on my Smoky Mountains 900 Miler Challenge. I started off my last day camping with a short hike around the Elkmont Nature Loop, then went paddling along the French Broad River (before having to end early due to thunder).
