It's time to open up about my journey discovering I had a nerve sheath tumor (a schwannoma) in the back of my right knee and recovering from the surgery. This was a REALLY difficult time in my life, and I wasn't prepared for the diagnosis or the immediate outcome of the surgery. Yeah, I've got a gnarly scar and the back of my leg isn't pretty (it's taken years to come to terms with the way my leg looks), but I'm proud of how far I've come. I never want to take walking for granted ever again! Everyone's experience with this kind of thing is different, but I wanted to share my story and encourage anyone going through something similar to hang in there. Things will get better.
