The biggest issue with owning a vehicle with a matte paint finish is keeping that finish in perfect shape. Bug guts, bird droppings, tree sap, etc... can damage and leave permanent marks on the paint just like on normal paint. The challenge we have is, once that damage happens there's no way to fix it. Unlike a normal paint finish, matte paint can't be polished to remove scratches or marks left from bug guts or bird droppings. Unless you can clean the surface almost immediately, these elements will leave a mark behind. Preventing and protecting a matte surface also becomes a challenge because you can't use traditional products. Waxes are not recommended on matte paint. Wax will start to fill in the imperfections that give matte paint it’s flat look. Most paint sealants work but as always, neither wax nor sealants have the chemical resistance to protect and prevent the damage to the paint. Your two best options are paint protection film or a ceramic coating. Paint protection film (ppf) will protect the finish and leave the flat, matte look to your paint. It will cost you more, up to $4000 or more depending on what you have done. Ceramic coatings will also keep that matte look and be less expensive.
