Stood on top of Stob Mhic Mhartuin Summit -via the the Devil’s Staircase on the west highland way. Height in Metres: 707 metres Height in Feet: 2320 feet Range: Loch Leven to Rannoch Station Waterfalls up the Lost Valley (Coire Gabhail), Glen Coe -Coire Gabhail is the hidden valley where the MacDonalds of Glen Coe hid their rustled cattle. A visit involves a very rough but intensely dramatic and scenic walk. TERRAIN Steep and rocky path with some mild scrambling; great care needed. Bidean nam Bian The highest mountain in the old county of Argyll, Bidean nam Bian is the whole majestic range of mountains on the south side of Glen Coe. It's dramatic northern ridges are known as the Three Sisters, whilst the highest summits of the group are hidden away behind. TERRAIN Steep, rocky and complex terrain. There are well-worn paths for much of the route (indistinct for route up Stob Coire nan Lochan) but the terrain is very rocky and there are sections of steep scree and very mild scrambling. RANNOCH MOOR One of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe, the Great Moor of Rannoch is a beautiful outdoor space stretching far north and west from Rannoch Station. The area is a vast stretch of land composed of blanket bog, lochans, rivers, and rocky outcrops which makes it a very challenging environment which still supports varieties of flora and fauna. A wealth of plants, insect, bird and animal life can be seen here ranging from curlews and grouse to roe and red deer. Glencoe village is picturesquely located between the banks of Loch Leven and the mouth of the famous glen, making it the perfect base for exploring the area of Lochaber, known as the Outdoor Capital of the UK.
