Yellowstone National Park - The Old Faithful Inn

Join us as we take a quick tour of the Old Faithful Inn, considered by many to be the largest log structure in the entire world. The main structure of the Inn was completed around 1904 with the east and west wings added later. Built in the "National Park Service Rustic" style of architecture, the Inn was constructed from logs and stone that came from nearby locations. It is truly an American treasure and one of two hotels in Yellowstone National Park that are on the American Historic Hotels registry; the other being Yellowstone Lake Hotel. I was amazed by the historic clock hanging on the side of the huge fireplace located in the Inn's lobby. It has a sorted past and at times, was not in operation. Best I could research was that the clock was fully restored in 2012. I got up early one morning to video the empty lobby of the Inn and found myself awed by the sound of the clock's movement. It was the primary sound one could hear at the time of day vs. the noise of the public that eventually fills the lobby's space throughout normal business hours. Old Faithful Inn provides a variety of accommodations from rustic rooms with shared bathroom facilities to fully furnished suites. There are various dining options located in the Inn and in nearby alternate lodging; the Old Faithful Lodge (often confused with the Old Faithful Inn) and the Old Faithful Snow Lodge. This video briefly walks you through both of those other lodges. They are within walking distance of the Inn. I would highly recommend booking your stay at least 6 months out (we booked 8 months out). This is a world renowned attraction so it will book up quickly. If you have never been to Yellowstone National Park, you definitely need to plan a visit at least once in your life. If you can make that happen, be sure to include a visit (or stay) at this amazing and historic national property. Thanks for watching.
