In sharing of data, one has to share responsibly so that personal information is not compromised. Applying data protection techniques will protect the subjects within the data, while enabling the potential value of data to be harnessed through data sharing. This talk will introduce and discuss anonymisation techniques, specifically, the concept of anonymisation, assessing the robustness of such techniques and the data value after anonymisation. The methodology and techniques of performing anonymisation, and the suitability of the various techniques on different applications will be presented. The trade-off in applying anonymisation techniques and retaining the utility value, together with optimizing this trade-off will also be discussed.
