In the Abrahamic traditions, the word scripture means a book which the God reveals for the guidance of all humans through a chosen person, called prophet, at some particular time in history. Veda shastra, however, manifests at the very beginning of creation and so there is never a time when humanity is bereft of them. Vedas become manifest as impersonal knowledge and become an object of cognition to a rishi.
