Mike Seeger's performance in San Diego at the Adams Avenue Roots Festival, April 22, 2007, at the Normal Heights Methodist Church. I filmed this for Lou Curtiss, who organized this and other folk music festivals and concerts in San Diego for over 40 years. Mike begins by borrowing a hand-made fretless banjo from Curt Bouterse, who had performed just before him. The church setting was not ideal for a concert - no proper stage, and an iron railing separated the pulpit from the pews. One can hear the soft humming of the HVAC, and occasionally faint music from another performance nearby. The set was wonderful, and the audience (who knew Mike well from his many visits over the years) was captivated. I'm not sure if this was the last time Mike came to San Diego. Russ Hamm 1.
