I've had several requests to do a walk through on the new 2016 Hewes Redfisher 18 flats boat. If you have been following me for a while then you probably already know that I am a big fan of Maverick Boat Company and their great boats. MBC manufactures Pathfinder, Cobia, Maverick and Hewes boats. I start this video showing you the awesome and responsive electric steer MotorGuide i5 trolling motor. This simple tool can add a huge convenience factor to your boat. I love being able to jump up on the poling platform and maneuver with the high point of view. The dry weight of the Redfisher is 1900lbs with a maximum capacity of 550 pounds or four persons. The boat is equipped with a 31 gallon fuel tank, which is a massive tank for a small boat that sips fuel; I could run to Cuba and back on a tank of gas. Storage is no factor for the 18 Redfisher, I have a front hatch that offers ample storage. You can also find storage in the console, under the bench seat and in the starboard side back hatch. The boat features Lenco trim tabs, when weight is unequally distributed in the cockpit, a simple adjustment of the trim tabs will level you out for a smooth, dry ride. I also have the Garmin 741xs touch screen head unit, this unit is awesome and really has more features than I even really know. The dead rise on the boat is 13 degrees and the wide beams are 7’11”. The wide beam is what truly helps the boat to be a super stable platform to fish from. The 115 Yamaha SHO with a three blade prop has a top speed of 48-50 MPH at 6100 RPM.
