Brazilian-Hungarian dual citizen Flavio Apro performs in Serbia as a part of his recent US-EU tour. This highlight was captured at Szárvas Gábor Könyvtar Theater in Ada, April 15th 2018. The same city where his grandparents were born and raised before escaping the economic crisis generated by World War I just over 92 years ago. This Improvisation was written by Antonio A. Sardinha (1915-1955), nicknamed as Garoto (Boy), one of Brazil's most celebrated guitarist-composers. Garoto was a proficient Choro-player who was heavily influenced by the American Bebop after a tour in the US in the 40's. Since then, his music was a blend of the Brazilian rhythm and American harmonies which generated the famous Bossanova that developed many years later and made Garoto as the father of the new style. This piece is a perfect example of this mixture. Apro is guitar teacher at the State University of Maringá (Brazil). Flavio Apro plays a guitar built by Lineu Bravo and uses Augustine Regal Strings. www.albertaugustine.com/artist/flavioapro.html By the artist’s Press Agency (Brian Cross)
