#Thailand #ayutthaya #travel Located about 50km (30 miles) north of the Grand Palace in Bangkok and 13km (8 miles) south of Ayutthaya, the royal palace at Bang Pa-In was originally constructed in 1632 by King Prasat Thong as a summer palace but fell into disuse with the fall of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya in 1767. It then became overgrown until King Mongkut (Rama IV) began to restore the site in the mid-19th century and most of the present buildings you see today were constructed between 1872 and 1889 by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). The palace is divided into 2 zones: one is inner zone that the royal family use as a resting place; while the other is the outer zone that is open to visitors. In this video I show you round the different buildings that form the palace that is open to the public as well as taking a cable car to an island in the Chao Phraya River in order to visit a unique temple. NOTE: In order to visit the palace you are required to wear something that covers your legs i.e. trousers or a long skirt.
