Quick how-to for absolutely free LS swap tuning with no licensing needed...just a cheap bluetooth OBD2 dongle. With HPTuners being almost $1000 and EFIlive being over $1000, free is a pretty nice alternative. And you can do as many VIN numbers are you desire, HPT and EFIL both charge extra for every additional VIN. I went to http://gearhead-efi.com and found the baseline tune I wanted (4.8/5spd/2wd) to replace the 4.8/auto/4wd tune that my engine came with. I used free TunerPro RT to make changes to the tune and LS-Droid to flash it to the PCM. I turned off the anti-theft so I don't need the truck column and key, and enabled power enrichment and changed the speedometer reading to match the Beretta tires I'll be running. Even these early 99-02 computers can run electric fans, so I turned that on also. BTW, this also works on 99-06 GMT800 trucks. I tuned my 8.1 Vortec a couple years ago and it works great. Added fans, fixed tire size, enabled PE, added spark...
