This Downtown Revitalization Project Changes Everything! | MC #37

Because of this, the city's Chamber of Commerce and Tourism agency have been exploring way to raise the city's profile. Through visioning sessions they determined that the city must prioritize: 1. Waterfront improvements 2. Improved connections between the two halves of the city 3. Urbanizing downtown Bend 4. Creating a landmark To do this, city leaders have devised a scheme to use a greenfield tax increment financing arrangement to pay for significant infrastructure projects in downtown Bend. In this video, we'll build the first of these projects, including a major bridge across the carp river, shoreline improvements, a marina, and an observation tower (Näsinneula Tower). To pay for this, we'll redevelop significant parts of downtown and increase density along the way. This is a big one and probably one of my favorite episodes in the series.
