The question is always going to be with regard to the residency requirement. The judge will ask what's your name are you a resident of what county in Michigan? You need to be a resident of Michigan for 180 days before the filing of the divorce. This is a jurisdictional requirement. If your answer is no to this question, the judge cannot proceed.
