Exploring a Nuclear Reactor Test Site in Georgia, 4K 60fps

Here we travel to an area south Dawsonville, GA to explore, from the ground and from the air, the site of the Georgia Nuclear Aircraft Laboratory, a joint Air Force / Lockheed facility with an above ground, unshielded nuclear reactor that was used to test materials to be used in a nuclear aircraft under development, i.e., to see if the high radiation would disintegrate various materials or not. This was not the reactor that would be used in the aircraft. Two prototypes of those are sitting in the Idaho desert near Arco, next to the EBR-1 reactor plant. The nuclear aircraft program was cancelled in 1961, but this facility was used for another 10 years doing various experiments that aren't officially documented. If you want to learn more or want to visit, simply search "Georgia nuclear aircraft laboratory" in Google and YouTube search. I do not recommend doing any digging in the reactor area or hot cell vicinity without a Geiger counter on hand.
