I’m always hunting for science fiction books, games, and movies. That’s why I knew when I saw Crying Suns on sale on Steam I had to give it a try! And boy am I glad I did! Crying Suns is an amazing game set in an immersive science fiction narrative, full of fascinating randomly generated encounters in a grim, dying universe. The main protagonist, Ellys Idaho (perhaps a nod to Duncan Idaho from the Dune series) wakes up in a mysterious cloning facility after the collapse of the Empire. More and more of the story starts to take shape as you learn more through random encounters while visiting planets and new worlds. I can’t get enough of the pixelated 3D graphics in this game. The way the story is presented through the main screen of you battleship is very immersive, really seeing the perspective of Admiral Idaho. Little touches like defeated battleships exploding and falling out of view just keep me riveted from moment to moment by what’s unfolding.
