Intercepts, Zeroes, and Asymptotes (Horizontal/Vertical) of Rational Functions | General Mathematics

General Mathematics x-intercept, y-intercept, zeroes, horizontal asymptotes, and vertical asymptotes The x-intercept is where a line crosses the x-axis, and the y-intercept is the point where the line crosses the y-axis. Rational functions can have zero, one, or multiple x -intercepts. For any function, the x -intercepts are x -values for which the function has a value of zero: f(x)=0 There are three kinds of asymptotes: horizontal, vertical and oblique. A rational function has at most one horizontal asymptote or oblique (slant) asymptote, and possibly many vertical asymptotes. Vertical asymptotes occur at singularities of a rational function, or points at which the function is not defined.
