The 2022 MHSAA Division 6 State Championship Game featured Ford Field regular Grand Rapids West Catholic, and a first time in 20 years finalist, the Negaunee Miners from Michigan's upper peninsula. In a sequence that saw Negaunee score on the final play of regulation in the first half, and then return the opening kick off of the third quarter for a touchdown, the game was tied 14-14 early in the third quarter. From there, the West Catholic Falcons offense took over the game. Senior running back Timmy Kloska turned into one of the stars of the weekend at Ford Field, as he amassed 241 (171 in the second half) yards and four touchdowns rushing for the Falcons. That effort led to 45 unanswered points in the second half! Grand Rapids West Catholic cruised to a finals record for scoring, defeating Negaunee 59-14, and putting up 520 yards of total offense in the process. Dan Dickerson (play-by-play) and former University of Michigan quarterback John Wangler (analyst) called the game for Bally Sports Detroit.
