Elassoma gilberti are amazing little fishes and when it comes to breeding these guys a lot of the information is to colony breed them in planted tanks. So I want to put that to the test and compare it to the way scientific researchers have breed elassoma gilberti in captivity. While not a lot is known about elassoma gilberti, there is a good research article documenting how they have breed them in captivity. The best thing about their methodology for breeding them is that they can wean the babies onto prepared and dry foods and don't have to feed them live food like you typically have to. My goal is to try and produce fry that can be fed flake foods or sinking pellets to make it easier for other hobbyists who want to enjoy them but don't have the space to keep these live cultures.
