Porsche Panamera 970 rear door B pillar trim replacement

In this video, I detail the steps I took to experiment with the replacement of the rear door B-pillar trim on a Porsche Panamera (970) Turbo. The video was made using a door assembly, which I bought from a scrap dealer to try out the steps of replacing the B-pillar trim. I did not follow the Porsche workshop manual for this because the workshop manual requires you to replace the large metal trim surrounding the window, and the clips, to replace the B-pillar trim. Since I bought my B-pillar trim for the equivalent of $60, and the surround trim is about $300, the numbers didn't stack up. So this procedure is experimental and is not the procedure designed and recommended by Porsche. The front door B-pillar trim does not require the replacement of the metal trim, so the Porsche procedure appears to be easier and cheaper to follow for the front door than for the rear. Most if not all of the steps I show on the rear door appear to be applicable to the front door assembly procedure too, so I hope this video is some help with that. The Porsche workshop manual details which parts should be replaced in the process, including several special aluminium bolts which appear to be structural. In this video, I do not replace any parts and am not intending to return the door to service. I also do not follow any recommendations or requirements relating to fastener torque. Please note that I'm not a mechanic, am not qualified to offer automotive engineering advice and I make no recommendations as to whether you do this work or any part of it. Nor do I provide any assurances that the steps I show and describe will work for you, are applicable to your vehicle, are safe, effective etc. You should refer to a qualified specialist for advice and you do any work yourself at your own discretion. I take no responsibility for any liability, direct or consequential, for any consequences of your following or attempting to follow, correctly or otherwise, any steps I show. You should satisfy yourself, obtaining qualified advice where appropriate, as to the suitability and safety of any steps you take with your own or other vehicles.
