The intersection of creativity and chaos | Gary Foster | TEDxMarthasVineyard

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. As a producer of film and television, my talk centers around the intersection of the creative process and the needs of certain artists to create conditions to be their most successful. I talk about two experiences that shaped by understanding about how creative minds work and my job as a producer to protect the process, while at the same time protecting the entire endeavor. Gary Foster has been producing film and television for nearly 30 years, including the movies SHORT CIRCUIT (1 & 2), SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE, TIN CUP, THE SCORE, DAREDEVIL, GHOST RIDER, and THE SOLOIST. Israel Horovitz's MY OLD LADY starring Kevin Kline, Kristin Scott Thomas and Maggie Smith will open this fall. With his partner Russ Krasnoff, they executive produced the NBC/Yahoo series COMMUNITY, and the new USA Network series SATISFACTION. Please follow Gary on Twitter: @gsfhorse About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
