A Thrilling Conclusion to an Iconic Trilogy?: MaXXXine (2024)

🎬🔪 Heeeeeeeeeey~! 🌟🎥 Welcome back, movie lovers! This time we're talking about the latest installment into the X trilogy; we're reviewing the Ti West film MaXXXine. If you've been around for a while then you know I've been meaning to watch X and Pearl for a while but I just never got around to it. Well with the release of MaXXXine I knew I needed to finally get around to it. I watched X and Pearl and they are both fantastic movies. X is definitely my kind of film in terms of suspense and brutality, I love the blood and practical effects, but the nudity and sex is a lot for me. Pearl is incredible and is my favorite out of the three. Mia Goth's acting is PHENOMENAL in this movie. MaXXXine is a great blend of the two, I love the acting and the gore in this movie. HOWEVER, I can see how fans might not like this one. It's different from the previous two, it's much larger and feels separate in so many ways (while also feeling familiar). I think that's a notable accomplishment because MaXXXine feels like Maxine, the gritty LA, slasher vibe is fitting for the character . . . but we also remember where she came from several years ago. I think if you're a fan of the genre and the era there is a lot to love about this movie. The costumes, the makeup, the music, the grainy picture and the sets all add to the authenticity of the times and it really draws you in. If you're a fan of mystery there's some figuring out going on, it's predictable but the whole movie is over the top and entertaining you MIGHT not mind too much. I think if you're too critical or you're expecting it to lean more toward X or Pearl then you might be disappointed. This movie isn't for everyone but it's an entertaining and interesting look at Maxine Minx. -🚀 In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break.
