In 2020, our cancelled international travel plans led us to purchase a 2020 Forest River Rpod 180 in July to explore our own backyard. We knew the Midwest and the rest of US are packed with the great outdoors, and we thought a small RV would let us travel on our schedule and in a safe manner. We bought our travel trailer without seeing it in person and towed it home to Indiana. We took it out on a couple test trips close to home...and decided our first big adventure would be a week-long stay in Michigan. Why Michigan? We were searching for someplace wild, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore seemed to be popping up over and over again. We booked a campsite and made the trip a few weeks later. Michigan blew away all of our expectations! Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is even more incredible than what you see in photos and videos, and you must stand at the top of a towering dune to get the full experience. We spent the week hiking, kayaking, tour farm and winery country, and enjoying every moment of travel trailer camping (even with a few hiccups).
