My recent LIVE videos with ED CHERRY @ Zinc Bar were so overwhelmingly well received, I just had to SEEK OUT Ed himself and keep this Party Rollin'! Unlike at Zinc Bar, THIS TIME there was no need to perform gymnastics with my selfie stick to get a close up of Ed's amazing hands, I was positioned right in front of them! As a guitar player myself, I was a bit frustrated at Zinc Bar all night that I was behind Ed who was playing some of the most beautifully improvised tasteful rhythm parts you will ever hear in jazz. Fortunately not this time. Ed Cherry Trio performs "In a Sentimental Mood" LIVE at Mezzrow NYC‪@mezzrowjazzclub8350‬ on Monday June 3, 2024. This time Ed had his amazing Trio of Eric Wheeler on Double Bass, and Anwar Marshall on drums. Ed Cherry is a legendary jazz guitarist known for his work with Dizzy Gillespie from 1978 to 1992, and for his own recordings and projects as a band leader since that time. He is widely known as for his melodicism, exuding a deep expressiveness on the guitar attributed to great singers such as Al Green, Marvin Gaye, and Frank Sinatra. It was a fabulous performance the entire night with fantastic musicianship from all and a great vibe! This is the 56th installment of my "Great Performances" series, where I upload my own personal LIVE footage from past concerts of great musical artists I've covered either through written articles and/or direct interviews.
