It's said that seeing is believing - at long last we finally get to visit this most legendary Kurdistan Bakery, where the "Master Naan Bread Maker" has honed and perfected his technique (learnt from the age of 16) to such an extent that from the moment he takes the dough bread in his hand to the moment that he slaps the fully formed nan into the tandoor oven; takes literally a matter of seconds......yes, that's right we said seconds!!! We recorded this video when it was a relatively quiet period in the shop - it's estimated that approximately 400 to 500 naan an hour can be produced when it gets really busy. Amazingly the price is extraordinarily cheap, can you believe that they sell Wholemeal (brown) or Plain (white) nan breads for only a £1.00.........How much did you pay for your naan when you last visited your local Indian takeaway or restaurant ??? The way you see these guys make the naan bread is exactly the same way they would make it back home in North Iraq, Kurdistan, Watching the naan being made you can see that it's a very similar technique & method to the way Indian Tandoor Naan bread is made (they call it a Tendur in Kurdish).
