In Mountain View, California, near the Googleplex (the company's headquarters), there are a number of large foam statues of Androids called the "Android lawn statues." They are based on Google's Android operating system's code names, which are named after desserts and sweets. Every new Android version used to be commemorated with a statue commissioned by Google, but that practice was discontinued in 2019. They plan to switch to 3d models by 2020. I have noticed some statues have been removed from the last time i visited the park in April 2020 A few blocks away, next to the Google Visitor Center Beta, these statues were originally located outside of Building 44, the former home of the Android development team. Visitors are encouraged to take photos in the area, which is open to Google employees and their guests.
