Realizing Sex Equality: The Future of Nevada’s Equal Rights Amendment

On September 17, 2024 (Constitution Day!), the ERA Project and leaders in Nevada’s historic sex equality movement, including Nevada NOW, Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN), and SEIU Local 1107, partnered to launch the ERA Project's Model Policy Agenda for implementing state-level Equal Rights Amendments (ERAs). Starting with Nevada’s visionary ERA passed in 2022, this event kickstarted a movement across the country to utilize the ERA Project’s model policy agenda to help realize sex equality. Speakers: - Dr. Pat Spearman, Nevada State Senator - Shelley Berkley, former U.S. Representative and candidate for Las Vegas Mayor - Heidi Parry Stern, Solicitor General, Office of the Nevada Attorney General - Kara Jenkins, Administrator to the Nevada Equal Rights Commission - Dallas Harris, Nevada State Senator - Cassie Charles, Deputy Campaign Manager and Political Director, Nevada Reproductive Freedom for All The ERA Project at Columbia Law School is a law and policy think tank that develops academically rigorous research, policy papers, expert guidance, and strategic leadership on the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the U.S. Constitution. Additionally, we conceptualize strategies for tapping into the potential of state ERAs to advance gender justice and equality.
